A New Month.

November is a New Month!

Cafesita found October a somewhat difficult month, but still continued to keep smiling.

How about some coffee to start up this new Month…and of course perhaps some pumpkin pie later this month? Anyone?

Its good to have wonderful friends to have a latte or tea with.

That is a pumpkin macaroon sitting on that plate….

Every now and then it is important to take the ones you love out for a coffee or tea.

Now lets start a new month.

Something good in the south end of Boston…….

In the South End…..

This local spot called….

Flour Bakery

1595 Washington St., Boston MA 02118

The south end  neighborhood is built upon a former tidal marsh, a part of a larger project of the filling of Boston’s Back Bay.  Does that mean that Flour Bakery is built upon a land fill???

I think soooooo….So I ordered a breakfast sandwich and a latte to fill me up.

chalkboard with the menu

I looked up what kind of coffee they carry……..and of course it is Stumptown. One of my favorites.  And it was a nice surprise after walking and taking the bus from the financial district.

Searching for a brew in Little Italy in Boston, Mass.

La superbia viene davanti alla ruina.

Translation: Pride comes before fall.

Little Italy

Walking through little Italy in Boston, Mass was like walking through an old European town.

After eating some good italian food I then try to find a place to have coffee in Little Italy in Boston, Mass.

When I look for coffee… its like finding my meaning of life. Love.

Is there coffee in Little Italy…Of course there is love. But I guess the question is, is there a coffee shop filled with love in little italy?  And yes there was…besides all the restaurants that serve coffee. There was a spot called:

Boston Common Coffee Company

97 Salem St, Boston, MA 02113

In Little Italy

There is an Italian proverb that says: A meal without wine is like a day without sunshine.

So true, the Cafesita version would be. A morning without coffee is like a day without sunshine.

Can I take your order?

Here are a couple other Italian proverbs:

By learning to obey, you will know how to command.

Criticizing another’s garden doesn’t keep the weeds out of your own.

Here are a couple quotes from some Italians:

“A womans dress should be like barbed wire fence: serving its purpose without obstructing the view” Sophia loren

“Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication” Leonardo da vinci

“A well spent day brings happy sleep” leonardo da vinci

“I know what I have given you. I do not know what you have received” Antonio porchia

Cheers to Boston.

I will leave you with this last Italian proverb,

National Coffee Day! September 29th is Special.

Today is National Coffee Day!

With love

I always love a celebration, what ever it is for I still love it…But I love it even more when its a day dedicated to coffee!

Now you can argue whether its a day for more coffee shops to make money…possibly but why not! Coffee has been keeping you going in your work or studies or just life in general. (that is if you are a coffee drinker) It has been there for you when you needed a comfort drink or to eat that wonderful desert.  But this day is not just about a cup of coffee, but to recognize all the coffee growers, the limited amount of countries that can provide you coffee. All the roaster companies that will roast the beans to their perfection, all the baristas that strive to make the perfect temperature milk and press that espresso perfectly to extract that caffeine.  Basically to help others realize that coffee is an art, the way its grown, brewed and even down to the foam.  Enjoy this day and Cheers!

Nueve / Once…..

I dedicate my coffee cheers to this day 9/11.  I bought 2 kinds of coffee drinks since I could not decide. I can dedicate my two drinks to the twin towers that once stood in New York City.  A macchiatto and an ice latte.

Not exactly twin coffee but they do give me the same effect.

This day was memorable for the whole nation. As a nation we should stop and remember on all the peoples lives that were lost and all the wonderful heros that saved people. You can have a moment of silence with a coffee beverage. <3

I am drinking this one first

I am proud to be an American, I still live in a free country.

I send my love to all the men and women along with their families who passed. And I thank all the heros out there.

God Bless America.

Coffee helps you study…….In Harvard Square.

I remember when I was a student and my life revolved around studying.  Coffee played a big role in my life….in my grades….In staying up…..In giving me that comfort at 3 am when no one was around but my books to tell me to press on.  It was my tackling fuel (as Bobby Boucher would say in WaterBoy)

the gates

I am sure many students at Harvard rely on:

Peet’s Coffee and Tea

100 Mount Auburn Street
Cambridge, MA 02138

This would be my every day stop…

I almost did not noticed Peet’s, only because it looked like a home.  There was a nice little park in front, but because it was so hot that day, I decided to drink my HOT Latte inside…..Now that I am thinking about it, I don’t know why I did not order an iced latte….I am a fan of how Peet’s make their iced lattes…..If I could only go back.

My Hot drink for this Hot day!

Twas good…..next time I will order an Iced latte on a hot day.

Then I decided to take a walk through the campus of Harvard. Why not? What if I applied to Harvard and got in…But I didn’t apply, they didn’t offer what I wanted my degree in.  Instead I enjoyed all the beautiful trees and the brick buildings the campus had.

High schoolers getting a tour….

Yes, in college is when I grew my love for coffee. And I know a lot of people who have said….”I didn’t start drinking coffee till college”.  So if it was not for college……..maybe some people would not have been coffee drinkers. I think I would still be, cause it is in my blood. Dad from Colombia, my grandmother is a coffee lover as well….Yeah, I would still be a coffee lover, with or without college. So did you become a coffee drinker after college?

Off to see a lighthouse in Portland, Maine.

Not only did I want to drink coffee in Portland, Maine.  I also wanted to see a lighthouse. Portland, Maine was probably the best place to go see a lighthouse. I will post pictures in a second…..  But first, since it was cold, I needed to warm up.  So I went to a coffee shop by the name of:

Crema Coffee Company

Commercial St Portland, ME 04101

(207) 210-6473

Crema

If I wanted to study in a coffee shop in Portland, Maine. This place would definitely be my spot.  Even if I didn’t want to study I would be a regular here.

First of all the building is brick. And they roast their own coffee. It is also big and spacious with lots of tables to choose from (which it makes it perfect to study).  The people in Portland, Maine were very friendly and easy to ask for directions, like to the lighthouse we were so anxious to see.

espresso and tea

But first I ordered an espresso since I was the driver. And my coffee friend ordered a tea.

where should I study?

Or you can choose a seat here…

I chose my seat by the fireplace…..

and there is my espresso!

cheers! espresso and tea!

up close and personal

my coffee friend tea’ing it up!

They roast their own coffee. Take note it says on the bag, “Passion in a Cup” :)

Nice open space.

Just next door to Crema Coffee Company their was a fresh produce market. The market was so adorable that I almost wanted to buy and eggplant or some tomatoes, but where would I put them……?

Rosemont Produce Company.

The tomatoes look good, and I don’t even like tomatoes.

I love how a purple vegetable exists.

Fruit

Now for the highlight of Portland, Maine was their lighthouse. I have probably have only seen one from really far away once. But that day I was able to get up close to a lighthouse. The layer of fog covering the lighthouse gave it a sense of mystery, the sound of the water lightly crashing onto the rocks, and the sounds of the soft horn of the lighthouse was so therapeutic I wanted to stand next to the lighthouse for awhile. So I did and took some pictures, and it involved lots of hopping from rock to rock to get close to the charismatic lighthouse.  This was a moment never to be forgotten.

The Lighthouse

Yup we were excited!

Time to hope from rock to rock

Beautiful!

Hi! I am a lighthouse!

Time to hop back…

If you ever find yourself in Portland, Maine ask to go to the main lighthouse. Or as they say “headlight”.  But also don’t forget to go to Crema Coffee Company and get passion in a cup. :)

Can you say Kennebunkport?

I can now say that I have drank coffee in Kennebunkport, Maine.

Where can I find Coffee?

A year ago I would have never thought about drinking coffee in Kennebunkport.

Coming into the city I saw all the beautiful docks, cute boutique stores, all the houses with wonderful porches, adorable buildings and the boats.  I just sat and stared at the cars coming through and the people walking, the first thought was…… “wow this is so cute, like in the movies!” If I were to pick two words to describe Kennebunkport, it would be “Peaceful and sweet”.

I came across a place called:

Café Couture

8 Spring st,Kennebunkport, Maine 04046

(207) 967-3299

Café Couture

I ordered a non fat latte. It was a perfect way to continue and warm my day.

The People’s Cafe in Newport, RI.

Never thought I would find myself in the smallest state in the United States, Rhode Island.

Newport, Rhode Island.

Driving into Newport, it was a sunny day. Almost every lady had their sun dress on, and the gentlemen had their sperry’s on. You can tell that everyone was out to paint the town with all smiles.

Newport had some nice views and beautiful greenery throughout the town. Towards the end of all the walking in some flat sandals, I hobbled into a place called:

The People’s Cafe

282 Thames St

Newport, RI 02840

(401) 619-1022

To order

This place was a perfect place to just sit on a comfy seat with an iced latte and just relax until we had to walk back to the car.

perfect place to people watch

Hit the spot that time of day

Here are some pictures that I took that day just before I entered into People’s Cafe

We visited the Newport Mansion called The Breaker Mansion.  It was an luxurious mansion with so many amazing details.  From secret rooms, to a two story china room, platinum on the walls, to hidden images on the walls, a ballroom, entertainment room, billiards room and bedrooms with multiple closets.

Time to sail in that beautiful weather.
